About us
The staff members of the DLRWM aim at providing the scientific knowledge required for the effective management of water and land resources and the environment, particularly in relation to the conservation and protection of man's natural heritage and its sustainable use.
The DLWRM has been involved for many years in research projects granted by national research agencies. International grants from the British Council and Swiss National Science Foundation were aimed at strengthening the international involvement of the DLWRM and its national partners. Participation in four EU FP projects included research in the areas of mathematical models for runoff and flash flood forecasting, estimation of landuse change impacts on the hydrological regime and regional analysis of flash flood regimes. National grant research also focused on problems of revitalisation of rivers, aquatic ecosystem and wetlands, estimation of pedotransfer functions, regional flood and drought frequency analysis, optimisation of irrigation networks, estimation of landuse and climate change impacts on runoff.
The DLWRM has played a key role in the hydrologic part of the Slovak National Climate Programme and the Slovak part of the US EPA Country Study Programme to Address Climate Change.
